Carnival of Torres Vedras


One of the great holiday traditions in our city is the carnival, the city stops to see the carnival.
There is a carnival parade, where everyone is masked, there are cars decorated, great music to dance, drink is beer, dance all night and all day, is a great party.
This tradition has been ongoing for many years and we will not lose it is the heritage of all Torrienses.
So have fun and good carnival to all.

Aumenta também a massa muscular e permite associar a um regime adaptado de redução da massa gorda. Promove o bem estar psicológico, reduz o stress e a ansiedade. Para o bem da vossa saúde pratiquem desporto.

Externato of Penafirme

Externato of Penafirme
I was a student in this school for 5 years and I am an employee for 10 years and mother of two children who I really would like to attend Externato of Penafirme in the future.

The Externato Penafirme provides a service of quality in education for 36 years, and receives students from an area that encompasses three parishes, Silveira, A-dos-Cunhados e Maceira. Right now it has about 1800 students.

It is a school with a contract of association, which means providing a public service but it has a private management. The Externato receives any student regardless of his social status. Nobody pays to study at Externato of Penafirme, just living in the area or the teaching parent has to work in the teaching area, such action is necessary to deliver documents.

Currently it is going through a difficult moment due to budget cuts. Of course the country being in crisis cuts are needed, what is unfair is that these cuts are larger for the Externato of Penafirme than to a public school providing the same service.


Externato of Penafirme is public education and free.

Les enfants du Mozambique

J'ai été très touchée par les reportages de Catarina Furtado au Mozambique, surtout parce que mon mari y est né.
Notre jeune journaliste a réalizé un excellent travail auprès des enfants et des mères adolescentes en difficulté.
Bien que ne soit pas un problème exclusif de ce pays africain, malheureusement, je crois que le monde devrait aider toutes ces personnes, en particulier les enfants. Ils sont très exposeés aux maladies, au traffic, aux abus sexuels et au racisme. La faim est leur plus grand problème et au XXI ème siècle cela ne devrait plus exister.
Comme Catarina Furtado, je pense moi-même qu'il foudra créer des programmes urgents contre la faim, le sida et le manque d'ècoles au Mozambique. Les nouvelles générations qui représentent l'avenir de ce magnific pays sont en risque.

Since I was young I started to like carnival. Already visited other carnivals but none was like the carnival in Torres Vedras, which is known by the most Portuguese carnival.
By tradition the carnival in torres vedras have many allegoric cars, the famous “matrafonas” (men’s dressed like woman’s) and the “cabeçudos” (big heads).
When carnival arrives everybody begins the 5 days party that includes many car parades.
The first day is marked by the student’s parade. The first day is marked by the student’s parade. In the second day all the people have the opportunity to participate in the night parade respecting the subject in that year.
In the third day we have the day parade with the official allegoric cars, in the fourth day the city council have is own allegoric car. And finally the fifth day that I call the resistant’s carnival day.
